Hi Karen, what would you suggest for a high school student who is really interested in graphic design, but has no previous experience or resources? Thank you!
Read as many books on the subject as you can afford/find at the library. Make yourself practice designing every day. Give yourself assignments and deadlines. Take classes at your local art store or community college. Find a professional graphic designer in the area and ask if they will mentor you. Begin building your portfolio now, since that’s the most important thing you’ll need if you want to study design further.
Hey Karen. I'm a middle schooler who was inspired by your graphic design and typography videos. I got photoshop for my birthday and have been using it everyday since, and I also took a class. Anyways, I was wondering if/what graphic design tablet you use. I'm looking to save up for one but I'm not sure what to get. Hopefully you haven't answered this question yet and I'm not wasting your time. Thanks.
I never actually used a tablet regularly, except for a few weeks at an internship two years ago. I’m a terrible example and still use just my laptop touchpad.
I guess just look for one that has good reviews on Amazon? If you’re in middle school, you probably don’t need to shell out cash for one that super pro. Sorry I don’t have much advice here - if anyone wants to give burstsofenthusiasm some suggestions, I’d sure he/she would love to hear them!
How did YouTube discover your amazing graphic design talents?
I think they first noticed my work when I designed the So You Want to Watch YouTube flowchart, which went kind of viral all over the web. Pro tip: make some well-designed infographics about YouTube, and people here will see them.
