First off, I make absolutely no claim on being a con expert. There are many people who have been to way more of them than I have, so I certainly don’t claim to be the be-all, end-all of con advice. All this guide is meant to do is offer suggestions and tips that I have picked up in my years of…
These are really great tips!
Everyone going to LeakyCon should read this. It’s a bit more practical than the video I posted, haha.
The Hectic Glow (aka the book title John did not use) was too good name to waste, so in the book is a band called The Hectic Glow. And John planned some band merch for the band that doesn't exist. The merch would be sold on book tour and it would be funny.
So you should be now designing t-shirts and wristbands and totebags for the non-existing band. We need quality merch! ;)
I would love to do that if I had time. Designing for a nonexistent client is the best kind of designing because there’s no chance they’ll hate it.
“They would be the greatest band in the world. And the best part about it would be that it doesn’t exist. So, like, they would be so underground and hip, that they aren’t even real. Like, so few people have heard them, that no one has heard them.”
- John Green
The Hectic Glow is indeed the ultimate band. Like, imagine the best possible band. The Hectic Glow are like that, only better.
I’ve been off the internet all day! Where did this Hectic Glow craziness begin?
I'd actually never heard of you until today when my lecturer in Melbourne, Australia showed one of your videos in my typography class. And i saw that you were a nerdfighter. and then you popped up in my dashboard after an effyeahnerdfighters reblog. fwow
After this series of epic coincidences i just wanted to say that myself, my lecturer and the rest of my class absolutely loved your video on 'How to identify fonts'! It made me feel so amazing to see ‘I am a nerdfighter’ pop up on screen and know that although we don’t know each other we’re both fans of the same thing.
Keep up the great work and DFTBA
That’s so awesome! I so glad you liked the video, and it’s so weird that that many people are watching it!
Tonight I decided to watch Step Up 3 on Netflix. As expected, the dancing was great, the storyline sucked, but the thing that bugged me the most - why on earth would you take a TRAIN from New York City to California??
Hello Karen! I just want to say congrats on graduating from RISD. I just graduated from high school last week and will be going onto art school at the Massachustts College of Art and Design this fall, so watching your most recent video about your graduation really gave me a reasurrance about my horrible fears of being an awkward freshman at art school and dealing with the 6 hour studio classes for foundation year.
Good luck with your job working as a designer for YouTube, I'm sure you will be successful with it. :D
Thank you so much! Good luck at your school next year, you’ll do great!
And psssh, six hour studio classes? When I was a freshman, we were in studio for seven and a half hours, and walked uphill both ways! (Well, only one way, but it was a really steep hill!)
